A local guide to walking on the Tin Coast

Venturing the Tin Coast by foot is the best way to become a part of this rich and cultural landscape, where land meets the sea.

Whether you have a couple of hours, a full day or are staying with us for a little while longer we have walking routes and trails to fit all timelines.

Pick up a map

Stop by our local library in St Just, or one of our Visitor Information Points to pick up walking guides and maps of locally recommended routes.

‘St Just in Penwith Area Guide’ includes 4 circular walks in amongst it’s pages gives readers an in depth look into today’s local community.

At Botallack and Levant you will find Family Activity trails, routes by the National Trust for their Tramper (an all terrain mobility scooter) and a very comprehensive walking booklet called ‘5 Circular Walks on the Tin Coast‘.

Download the locally authored The Guide to the Tinners Way and Nearby Ancient Sites breaks down the 18 mile route into 5 short walks with over 20 prehistoric and early Christian sites along its way that trace the ancient paths along which tin and copper were transported from the mineral rich area around St Just to sheltered anchorages at St Ives.

Visit the National Trust website and choose between 3 coastal walks that explore and link National Trust properties from Cape Cornwall to St Just and along to Botallack and Levant.
