Free outdoor public wifi is available at these 5 locations:

  1. Pendeen near the North Inn

  2. Geevor Tin Mine Car Park

  3. Levant Mine near the toilet block

  4. Botallack Count House Car Park

  5. St Just Town Centre with 3 locations that connect to form a wifi bubble around Market Square and towards Lafrowda Car Park.

In addition to Wifi, Pendeen, Geevor and St Just (Lafrowda Car Park) also have footfall counters.

Free wifi enables audiences to connect to the Tin Coasts online and digital offer, enriching their experience with quick access to the resources on our Visitor Information Website and XplorTinCoast App, without relying on phone signal. And for residents without the internet at home or with restrictive data limits, free wifi might just come in useful!

Users of the wifi can opt in to receive news and updates from the Tin Coast and Network Members can promote themselves to these audiences via our direct marketing campaign.

Visitor Data

Having the digital capability to monitor footfall across the area brings a wealth of comparative data on visitor behaviour.

The technology the footfall counters use is known as ‘GEO-Sense’. Dedicated sensors gather anonymised data from mobile phones (requiring no end user interaction) which in turn provides us with information on unique visitor counts, accurate visitor numbers, dwell time, visitor movements and frequency of visits.

Combined with the data insights available from our XplorTinCoast App makes it possible for us to see the movement of people around the Tin Coast, understand length of stays and how many people are visiting which areas – along with comparison insights between days, months and years, helping us to identify trends and visitor patterns to inform our visitor messaging, promotional aims and inform our planning and solutions to impacts as a destination and as a neighbourhood.

Available in monthly reports for Network Members the headline information below is an example from April 2023.
